Belonging to Seriki Faremi Williams Abass; a Nigerian slave dealer, this one-century-old garment is preserved for tourists to see at the Seriki Faremi Williams Abass Slave Museum. Western slave merchants traded by barter with Seriki Abass. Cotton, wool, linen, whiskey, gin, umbrellas, kettles, mirrors and guns were exchanged for slaves. A man wealth was rated on the basis of his number of slaves.
