Africa is as diverse as the fabrics and styles of its fashion ensemble. From the north of the Sahara to the south of the Cape, African fashion is vibrant. Fashion Afrika is a photo exhibition that showcases the unique fashion styles of Africans living in the Sussex county of Britain. It explores race, history, culture, and the identity of difference. It initiates a dialogue within the photographs regarding memory, class, and representation; and highlights the influence of colonialism, capitalism, religion, and globalization on the continent’s indigenous attires representing 3000 tribes in 54 countries.
